Office of Parent and Family Affairs

Parent and Family AffairsThe Office of Parent and Family Affairs serves as an information source for parents and families of youth in the custody and care of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services. The Office also works with parents and families to divert and/or minimize problems by facilitating early intervention of complaints and areas of concern. The objective of the office is to provide parents and family members with a direct contact that is accessible for responses to their questions and/or concerns.

Focus

•  Explore ways in which parents/families can expand involvement at each secure care facility and with residential non-secure care providers in the community.

•  Keep management informed of any major issues relative to their areas and work with them to ensure that they respond in a timely manner.

•  Develop orientation materials for parents/families of committed youth.

•  Build relationships through communication and quality assistance, and by providing prompt responses to parents/family members' calls, e-mails, letters and/or visits.

•  Work with community-based organizations to facilitate training and workshops for parents/families.

How Can The Office of Parent and Family Affairs Help?
