The DYRS Approach: Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The District of Columbia Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) today released an agency update detailing its evidence-based approach to substance abuse screening, assessment, intervention and treatment planning for Court-involved youth under DYRS care.

Included in the update are practices approved by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and currently underway by DYRS, as well as new initiatives proposed by the agency for court-involved youth participating in the DC YouthLink initiative (DCYL), the community-based coalition of organizations established to provide services to DYRS youth and families.
