DC YouthLink Quarterly Performance Report
First Quarter, FY 2012 Report Highlights

Workforce Development Outcomes

DYRS is now reporting new work outcomes for youth linked to DC YouthLink, including youth earning employment, youth maintaining employment, youth earning professional certifications, and youth participating in internships. In FY2012 Q1, fifteen youth (15) earned new, unsubsidized employment.

Educational Outcomes

DYRS is now reporting new educational outcomes for youth linked to DC YouthLink, including youth achieving a high school credential, and youth enrolling in post-secondary education. During the reporting period, seven youth (7) earned a high school credential.

Re-Conviction Rates

Re-conviction for a new offense is another new outcome included in this report. In the three Quarters since the agency began tracking arrests in April of 2011, 83 percent of DC YouthLink enrollees have been in community-based placements without being found guilty of a new offense.

Abscondence Rates

Abscondence rates also continued their downward trajectory. On the final day of the Quarter, only 2 percent of DC YouthLink youth were on abscondence status, the lowest level since DYRS began capturing this information. Between October and December of 2011, 9 percent of youth absconded from their placement, which matches a two-year low.

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services

Youth receiving community-based mental health services and substance abuse services have both continued to increase. The number of youth enrolled in these programs nearly doubled over the last two Quarters.
