The Trust is seeking individuals to review funding proposals for the 2013 DC YouthLink Service Coalition Funding Competition. This is an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues in the fields of youth development and juvenile justice, to learn more about the funding process, to develop proposal-writing skills, to learn about exciting initiatives happening in the juvenile justice field, and to contribute your knowledge and experience in helping the Trust select high-quality youth programs throughout the District of Columbia.
What does a grant reviewer do?
Reviewers evaluate three to five proposal applications on average and then convene with fellow reviewers and a Trust facilitator to discuss findings. The goal of this debrief session is to assign final scores to each proposal application and to select proposals that will move to the next level of review.
What qualifications should reviewers have?
The Trust is looking for a diverse group of reviewers who reside in the DC Metropolitan Area and who have experience with juvenile justice, youth development, community-based programming, and/or grant writing and grant management. Reviewers must be comfortable reading a large volume of material within a short timeframe and providing analysis in a small group setting.
What is the time commitment?
Reviewers must commit to one reviewer training session scheduled from July 23, 2012 to July 27, 2012 and to one debrief session scheduled from August 6, 2012 to August 10, 2012 (times will depend on reviewer availability and consensus). The time period between the reviewer training and debrief session will provide approximately two weeks for reviewers to evaluate and score proposals.
How can I apply to become a grant reviewer?
To apply, please email your resume to [email protected]. Please feel free to share this announcement with others who you feel would be interested in serving as a grant reviewer for the Trust.
What is the deadline to apply?
The deadline to apply is July 18, 2012. However, please feel free to submit your resume as soon as possible. We will begin reviewing resumes as they arrive.
What are the next steps after submitting a resume?
The Trust will review resumes and contact only qualified applicants via email within 5 business days of submission.
Thank you for your interest in serving as a grant reviewer and for sharing this announcement within your networks. The proposal review process is a critical component in our efforts to select a variety of high-quality programs that serve children, youth and families throughout the District of Columbia.
