DYRS Part of "DC One Community for All"

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – As part of the “DC One Community for All” initiative, ten (10) collaborating District of Columbia government agencies today released an informational summary of their goals, milestones, and steps taken by each agency during Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 to ensure that individuals with disabilities living  in institutional settings – or at risk of being institutionalized - have the choice to transition to community  living with appropriate supports when available.

DYRS Featured in Washington Post, Recognized for Holiday Fatherhood Program

DYRS was cited for its efforts to connect court-involved young men to their children and families during the holidays in an opinion column published by The Washington Post. The column centered on the agency’s New Beginnings Youth Development Center Holiday Program and Parenting Workshop.

DYRS Releases 2nd Quarter Performance Report

Date Released: 

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – District youth participating in community-based support services displayed gains in program enrollment, engagement, retention, and completion during the second quarter (January-March) of the 2012 fiscal year, according to performance results announced today by the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS). Results show additional increases in workforce readiness and reductions in re-arrests. Outcomes reflect court-involved youth participating in the D.C.

WITHIN THE DISTRICT GOVERNMENT

Part of the District government's Public Safety and Justice cluster, DYRS reports to the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice. Legislatively, DYRS reports to the Committee on Recreation and Youth Affairs which is part of the Council of the District of Columbia.
